Plan your herb garden early - you’ll not only love having fresh herbs all spring, summer, and fall - but the bees (and butterflies) will love you for it! We’ve compiled the easiest and tastiest herbs to consider for your herb garden this year - here are the top 7 we think compiles that important list!

CHIVES

Chives are really easy to grow and come back year after year.  You may be surprised to know that chives have a lovely pink blossom - and bees flock to those beautiful flowers.  There are many recipes out there for various salad dressings & ways to garnish using chives.

OREGANO

Oregano is a member of the mint family - when in bloom is has a lovely purple flower.  It’s perennial and comes back year after year.  Hummingbirds also seem to love oregano!  Having fresh oregano adds a depth

LAVENDER

Lavender is so lovely!  It has a long season of blooming for bees and other pollinators.  If you’ve ever had lavender in your garden then you know what we’re talking about!  You can pick the little lavender sprigs and add them to a warm bath - or get really creative and find a recipe for lavender whipped cream!  Lavender makes a great addition to your herb garden.

MINT

It seems that mint has developed a bad reputation for being invasive - so alot of people plant it in its own container within their herb garden.  Mint is fantastic for bees - and there are so many variations you can plant in your garden… peppermint, spearmint, chocolate mint, apple mint and even cat mint (aka catnip!)  Mint is great in teas and baths.. and is a helpful herb which aids our digestive system.

THYME

Thyme is a really popular herb for the entire pollinating community.  When in bloom it has pink, white, and purple flowers which bees and other little pollinators devour.  Thyme is easy to grow and easy to use! It’s also known to be really good for our human immune systems.

ROSEMARY

Rosey Rosemary… most herb gardens don’t consider themselves complete without it.  Bees and other pollinators love the tiny purple, pink, and blue blooms. Given its fragrant sprigs in the form of a small shrub - rosemary is a perfect addition to your herb garden… and the bees will love you for having it!

DILL

As a member of the celery family, dill is an annual herb which is rich in antioxidants and an excellent source of Vitamin C. Dill is known to have many health benefits, including protection against cancer and heart disease.  Consider adding dill to your herb garden to keep the honey bees happy and healthy.
